Types of Freight Inspections

General Cargoes

During trucking mishaps as shown at left,
a professional surveyor is usually hired.
Inspection is essential to ascertain the extent
of the damage and whether or not any of
the goods involved can be salvaged.

Consolidated Commodities

During loading, materials may be unsuitably stacked or loaded into the container as shown at left.
In such cases inspection is essential to determine the extent of the damage and whether or not any of the goods involved can be salvaged.
Damage often occurs due to shifting loads or improper loading  Here we see cracks in a vanity top which occurred in transit.
In cases such as this, inspection may determine that there is little that can be salvaged.  Where the entire contents have been damaged, replacements must be obtained.

Machinery

An industrial shear machine which suffered
damaged during shipment and handling.
Pen & circle shows broken weld damage to these shears due to rough handling or shifting cargo during transport.

Vehicles
(Fire Fighting Equipment)

A fire truck shipped to the island was
damaged during shipment and handling.
All aspects of operation must be thoroughly tested upon delivery to assure that the shipped item is fully functional and undamaged.
Here is an example of a fire truck shipped to the island which was damaged during shipment and handling.  The pen shows minor damage to the bumper of the truck.
